Modern letterpress is a simple and elegant process of type and paper, ink and pressure. But the secret to beautiful print is the nuance of combining these elements to create poetry on paper.
In 2008, Amy Constable rescued her first printing press from a chicken shed in Moe and lovingly restored it back to working order. Ten years and six presses later, Amy is one of Australia's foremost letterpress printers.
Between 2013 to 2017, Saint Gertrude ran the first Australian Letterpress School and Open Access Studio Program; a learning opportunity so rare that it attracted students from all over Australia and the world. The sale of her studio space in 2017 has meant that group workshops are on current (but not permanent!) hiatus. Please stay tuned.
