Cards Against Domestic Violence
Love shouldn't hurt. Love shouldn't ache. Love shouldn't take our breath away or knock us off our feet. Love should support us, respect us, honour us.
When I was asked by JOY to work with them on this incredible campaign, I didn't think twice.
Gendered violence is something I feel very passionate about stopping. One woman a week is killed in Australia by a partner or ex-partner, and sadly, the numbers are steadily climbing. Enough is enough.
Love shouldn't hurt. Love shouldn't ache. Love shouldn't take our breath away or knock us off our feet. Love should support us, respect us, honour us. The messages on these cards might seem like they are messages of love, but they are not. They are messages of the kind of violence we have come to expect, but we can all work together to stop.
All artists (including myself) are volunteers, and the paper has been kindly supplied by KW Doggett Fine Paper. 100% of proceeds from the sale of these cards go to Domestic Violence NSW. Artworks by Kate Pullen, Carla Hackett, Magda Ksiezak, Lyn Tran and Eliza Svikulis.
This project won a D&AD Yellow Pencil for Copywriting for Design.
